
JEREMIAH REX, Mayor of the city of Tiffin, is a native of Stark county, Ohio. He was born at Bethlehem, October 9th, 1836. In 1844 his parents came to Seneca county, locating in Seneca township. Here Mr. Rex engaged in farming and lumbering and later taught school. In 1875 he was elected to the office of Clerk of the Courts and again re-elected in 1878. Previous to this, however, he had served 6 years as Township Trustee and 6 years as Member of the School Board, and a like period as Justice of the Peace and 1 year as Assessor. After his election to the office of Clerk of the Courts, he removed to this city and has since resided here, during which time he has held the office of Justice of the Peace for 15 vears; City Clerk, 7 1/2 years ; Councilman, 2 years; Township Trustee for 6 years, and is now serving his second term as Mayor of the city. In all Mayor Rex has had more than 40 years of public life, in many instances holding as many as three offices at one time. There is possibly no other man living in Seneca county that has had as many years of official life as has Mayor Rex.
